To make sure your pool is crystal clear, clean, and pristine, you’ll need pool chemicals, dispensers, vacuums, skimmers, and an effective pump and filter.
But that’s just how to make sure the pool looks nice. Your pool is there so you can unwind and have a great time with family and friends.
For that, you’ll need…
Waterproof Speakers
Not just any speakers, waterproof speakers. Splashing and inclement weather can short out lesser speakers and that will leave your party without music, out in the cold.
There are lots of great brands that make waterproof Bluetooth speakers. Some of the best are JBL, Sonos, Bose and TurtleBox, but there are many others.
There are even floating speakers you can get, some of which are even lighted to take ambiance up a notch, too.
Adequate Lighting
There are multiple ways to go about this, but either way, you need to make sure your outdoor oasis has enough light that the party doesn’t get shut down just cause the sun sets.
Either install pool lights in your pool as a part of the design, or get floating pool lights. You can also light the area around your pool with outdoor-rated string lights.
One other alternative is to ring the yard with tiki torches. These torches will serve better as supplements to add mood lighting, but the added bonus is that they will help keep bugs away.
Floating Coolers
Any cooler will do - you need to keep refreshments close by, after all, but why not make it a floating cooler so you can keep them within arm’s reach?
At the very least, make sure you get some of those floating drink holders - or a floating pool chair that has an integrated drink sleeve.
Speaking of which…
Floating Pool Chairs
Floating pool chairs are a must for your pool. They up the comfort of the pool and allow you to truly lounge not just poolside, but in the pool.
Check out our collection of floating pool chairs to get some inspiration. We sell large, comfortable floats, some of which are covered in heavy duty nylon for durability and longevity.
Noodles
No collection of pool accessories or toys is complete without noodles.
The funny thing is that pool noodles are actually used as resistance devices to aid in training so you can strengthen the muscles in your upper body and core as you refine your technique, but for most people, they’re just fun pool toys.
You can craft an impromptu water lounge out of one, or just use them to keep afloat. Every pool needs at least a few!
Poolside Chairs
You’ll definitely want a couple poolside chairs and probably some tables for entertainment. A few chaise lounges should be good as they can be used for sunbathing and can be surprisingly comfortable.
If you get any other seating, make sure you’re selective about the pillows and upholstery. It should be both sunlight and water resistant in order to resist fading and growing mold or mildew.
Towels
Naturally, you’ll need plenty of towels for yourself and guests. There’s not much more unpleasant than getting out of a nice warm pool on a cool, dry day!
Goggles or Masks
Both goggles and masks are good to have and the kids usually have a blast with them. Besides, they’re necessary for some diving games that kids like to play since they make it much easier to see underwater.
Water Toys and Games
You should definitely have some water toys, and we have some pool games on our website that you should definitely have at least a few poolside for when guests visit.
Are you a fan of basketball? Then you’ll almost definitely be a fan of pool basketball - check out our S.R Smith Swim N’ Dunk that will convert your pool into a watery court.
You can also get a couple diving sticks or rings and challenge yourself to basic skills like diving and retrieving - these games can be a ton of fun with friends.
And, on top of that, remember that some water games, like Marco Polo don’t even need special equipment - just a few friends that are willing to have a good time.
Sun Protection
Lastly, despite the fact that it’s not really a pool accessory in the proper sense of the world, you will need sun protection. Always keep some sunscreen close by for yourself and visitors.
But, beyond that, you might also want to consider building a gazebo outside to give visitors some respite from the sun, or even just one of those pop up tents that can be used to shade your poolside chairs when it’s particularly hot out.
